3 Random Thoughts on the Fit by the 4th Challenge

written by Mike Robertson

Last week I announced that our Fit by the 4th Challenge registration is officially open, and needless to say I’m excited about this year’s event and what it holds in store.

After all, our Top 3 contestants last year lost a total of 39 pounds and 19″ in just 30 days – so needless to say, they crushed it!

One thing we love to do here at IFAST is to reflect on the past to see what worked, as well as what we can do better in the future.

So while this post might feel a bit random, here’s a bunch of ideas and thoughts on this year’s event. Some are things that we brought up and discussed internally, while others are things that have come up externally from people like you are who are interested in the Challenge.

Let’s do this!

#1 – Why did we do a group challenge?

While we love that the individuals crushed it, we also know that most people will do better if they feel accountable to a teammate or partner.

But that’s just one of the reasons we’ve added a partner to this year’s event. Sure accountability is great, but I think there’s more to it than that.

I think one of the biggest reasons to work as groups is to increase camaraderie and to make the event more fun as well!

After all, when everyone is working together towards a common goal, it brings everyone closer.

So whether it’s more accountability, building community, or simply having more fun, I think the partner idea is going to be a huge hit.

#2 – Do you have to follow MetaShred?

When you sign-on for the challenge, you get a copy of the MetaShred Diet book.

And as you can imagine, I’ve gotten a ton of questions about it.

Most specifically, do you have to follow the MetaShred Diet?

The answer is simple: Absolutely not.

If you have something you prefer, or that works for you, great!

The big reason we like this book is because Dr. Mike is not only a personal friend, but he really “gets” the science and practice of weight loss.

The great thing about the book is the practicality of it all. After you have your eating template in place, it’s really just plug and play with the meals.

Plus, unlike most diet books, Dr. Mike does a great job of not only kick starting the fat/weight loss process, but it also guides you on what to do to keep the weight off once the challenge is over.

However, if meal prep and cooking isn’t your thing, we also have a great relationship with HercuLean meal prep here in town, so if you want to have someone do the cooking for you, this could be a great option as well.

Just tell them IFAST sent you and they’ll take care great of you!

#3 – Do you have to “Diet” at all?

Before I get to the main point here, let me just say I really dislike the term “Diet” for a lot of reasons.

But that’s probably a really long, drawn out post – so I’ll save that for another day 🙂

With regards to the Fit by the 4th Challenge, you don’t have to “Diet” at all!

Sure you may not win the contest, but I think there’s a lot more to this challenge than just winning one of the prizes.

Sometimes you just want to kick your training into high gear.

Or get in the routine of training consistently.

Or simply surround yourself with other positive and motivated individuals..

If your nutrition is already on point, simply cranking up your training for a few weeks could make a significant impact on how you move and feel.

So as you can see, there’s a ton of reasons why I think this year’s event is going to be even more successful than in year’s past.

And I also have goal for this year’s event:

I want to help 15-20 TEAMS get into great shape and Fit by the 4th.
