Believe it or not, we’re standing at the halfway point of 2013.
And a such, it’s time to do a little inventory.
Are you halfway to achieving your 2013 goals?
(Side note: You DO have goals, right? If not, read this article right now – What’s Your Goal?)
This past weekend I took some time to look over the goals I set for the 1st and 2nd quarters of this year.
I’d hit a few milestones, and come up short on a few others. Reviewing my goals allowed me to take inventory on what I’ve been doing well (working hard, keeping my priorities in order) as well as what I need to improve upon (things such as delegating and getting things off my plate).
But here’s the thing – if you don’t have a goal, you don’t have a reference point.
You don’t have a target.
And it’s really easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind of life if you aren’t focused on making yourself a little better each and every day.
Actionable Item:
If you have goals for 2013, take 20-30 minutes sometime this week and review them. I like to do this somewhere in silence, preferably with a great cup of coffee.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Am I on track to achieve my 2013 goals?
- If yes, am I pushing myself hard enough? Could my goals be more challenging? And am I putting forth my best effort?
- If no, are my goals realistic? If so, what do I need to do better to get a better result?
And if you don’t already have goals, there’s no better time that now to start. Read that post above, and do what I outline step-by-step. It will make a world of difference.
Finally, don’t be afraid to tweak, amend, or flat-out get rid of a goal, either. I had some strength goals set for myself at the start of 2013, but I’ve amended the plan slightly to re-develop my athleticism and train with Kathryn while she’s at home from Purdue. When she goes back to school, I can re-focus on the strength side of the equation.
So there you have it – your quarterly check-in from IFAST. I’ll leave you with this:
Are you where you want to be, right now?
And if not, what are you going to change in the next 3 months so that when I do the 3rd quarter check-in, you’re on your way to developing the body you really want?
All the best
MR
