Coming Soon!

written by Mike Robertson

I’m going to stray from our usual content this week, but only because we have a ton of cool stuff coming up here at IFAST that I want to make sure you know all about!

Women’s Self-Defense Class

When IFAST client Clint Cloys came to me years ago with the hope of holding a self-defense class at IFAST, I honestly didn’t know what to say.

I’m all for people growing and evolving, and making their mark in the world.

But I also know how hard it is to market events like this, and beyond just getting them excited, getting them off their butts and in the door!

If you (or someone you know), wants to know how to handle and protect themselves, then this self-defense class is right up your alley.

Plus, you get to beat on Clint for a couple of hours on a Saturday. How does it get better than that? (And trust me – once you meet Clint, you’ll know exactly what I mean!)

Athletika New Year’s Challenge

I’ve mentioned this numerous times before, but I’m not a huge fan of New Year’s Resolutions.

In fact, if you look at the research, most people give up on their New Year’s resolution less than two weeks into the New Year!

I think that one of the biggest issues with New Year’s resolutions is that there’s often little, or no accountability involved.

After all, how can you ever hope to build new habits and dedicate yourself to a training program without including others in your efforts?

As such, on January 9th we’re going to be offering up a 4-week (28-day) Athletika New Year’s Challenge.

The goal will be simple:

To lay the foundation for a great year right in those first 4 weeks!

And unlike most “challenges” or “contests” that focus on end-goals like inches or pounds lost, the big focus for our challenge will be based on building habits.

  • Are you exercising regularly?
  • Are you eating healthy and nutritious foods on a regular basis?
  • Are you taking the time to unwind, relax, and focus on recovery?

There’s only one catch:

You have to take at least ONE Athletika Team Training class each week.

Football Combine Athletic Development Class

Last but not least, we’re off to a great start with our athletic development classes here at IFAST.

Even though I don’t run the classes, personally, this is something I’m very passionate about.

I know how much sports meant to me as a young man, and having a class that is geared towards helping young athletes develop is something I would’ve loved to have earlier on in life.

We’re currently hosting off-season camps for volleyball and baseball, but in February, our schedule will change just a bit.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we’ll be offering a general athletic development class. Quite simply if your child plays a sport and wants to get more athletic, this will be the class for you.

However, if you know someone who wants to get better at football, then we have something special coming in February and March.
Our Football Combine Class will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and will be geared around making your young athlete faster and more explosive.

The big four tests we will be working on in the camp are:football

  • The 10-yard dash,
  • The vertical jump,
  • The broad jump, and
  • The 5-10-5 pro agility test.

Coaches and scouts of all levels love these tests, so it only makes sense to train for them.

(If you want a full write-up, check out this article I wrote about the NFL combine.)

However, even if your child isn’t going to test at a combine, I guarantee this class will help them get faster and more explosive for their upcoming football season.

Full details will be coming soon, but again, if you have a football player who might be interested, drop us a line NOW and we’ll let you know once we’re all set-up and ready to go.

Summary

Okay that’s it from me. As you can see, lots going on and lots coming up in the future here at IFAST.

As always, thanks for your support and we hope to see you at the gym soon!

All the best
