We launched HitFit, our take on group boxing, last year and the response has been amazing! In order to celebrate our success, here are some important takeaways from our resident HitFitters:   1) It’s Not Just Your Arms, It is a TOTAL Body Workout "When I started HitFit I used my upper body exclusively, burning up my gas tank and tiring out my arms. Once Tony taught me more technique and how to relax my upper body, it shifted more of the load to my hips, legs, and core. This created a total body workout that helps me box at

Hello IFAST community! My name Jason Neal and I have recently been hired as a Strength Coach/Office Administrator. I have been visiting this site and reading this blog since I was a freshman in college so it’s surreal to be writing something for it. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of such a talented and experienced team. I began weight training when I was about 14 and my Uncle Joe wrote me my first training program.  I loved the weight room in high school and the confidence it gave me on the ball diamond. I have always

I’m going to stray from our usual content this week, but only because we have a ton of cool stuff coming up here at IFAST that I want to make sure you know all about! Women’s Self-Defense Class When IFAST client Clint Cloys came to me years ago with the hope of holding a self-defense class at IFAST, I honestly didn’t know what to say. I’m all for people growing and evolving, and making their mark in the world. But I also know how hard it is to market events like this, and beyond just getting them excited, getting them

With our Athletika classes rolling out this week, we've gotten a ton of interest about what they are, and who they're for. To make this super simple, I've done my best to get all of that information into one article. However, if you read this and still have questions, make sure to drop us an email at indyfast@gmail.com or call us at 317.578.0998. But for now, let's talk about Athletika! What is Athletika? Athletika is the IFAST-approved version of "bootcamp" or team-style training. Instead of our standard small group sessions, Athletika is a larger group setting where we'll have up

Team Training While It’s Raining

Let's pause for a moment and admire my sweet rhyme in the title. Death Row Records, 2015, baby. Now check out this picture of the Marottis: Last week during our Team Training class, I made our little fitness junkies push the Prowler outside... in the rain. Once the cement in the back gets wet, your feet start to slip and the sled starts "sticking" to the ground. I guess they all figured, "Hey, I'm sweating anyways," because I heard no complaints. I'm gleaming with pride, so I wanted to share this with the world. Indianapolis folk, come be a part of

The results are in! If you lifted in our 3rd Powerlifting Meet this past weekend, THANK YOU. Saturday was more fun than I've had in a long time. And I've had a lot of fun. Plus, the house was PACKED. Here is a list of everyone's best lifts. The last column is something people use to compare lifters between weight classes, in case you're worried about that stuff. Some things to highlight We had TWO deadlifts over 700 pounds. Hats off to Justin and Jake! We had TWO bench presses over 400 pounds. Hats off to Justin (again) and Cody!

The Great Outdoors

Sunlight is a wonderful thing. I even love the snow, but the vibrant colors you are able to see when their isn't a cloud in the sky is magical. It’s no wonder that people start to get sad during the short days and long nights of winter. Given the change in weather, it was great to see a bunch of people working their tails off outside. Morning client JS even came in and pulled the sled while protecting herself from the UV rays with the coolest hat ever. And when I say pull the sled, I mean she went FAR. I

The Real Benefit of Team Training

When we started our moderate-sized group training classes, we called them Bootcamp classes. People know what "bootcamp" means. They know what to expect when they come to the class. With the recent rebooting of "bootcamp", we decided to rename the classes. But why? Why would we lead people away from expectations? Why did we need to rebrand our group classes? Because we're different. The people who do our classes care about those around them. We are a team. And so began Team Training. They even brought me out to the bar to do trivia with them last week! This isn't
