80% of Americans will suffer from low back pain in their life.
Female athletes are anywhere from 6-8 times more likely to suffer from a non-contact ACL injury than males playing the very same sport.
What does all this have to do with you? Maybe you’ve never had an injury before, but chances are good if you’re active long-enough some sort of injury will occur. As a former athlete myself, I know how injuries can not only affect your training, but keep you from competing as well. That’s not to mention the long-term affects they can have on your health.
So how do we prevent this? The answer is simple: A well-rounded program that puts an emphasis on all the important factors of training.
The programming at Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training is unique when compared to other facilities. Rather than focusing solely on strength training, we take a holistic approach to movement and health.
Below are just a few of the reasons you’ll move and feel better after working with us:
- Before you ever work out in our facility, you will be assessed by one of our experts to determine side-to-side imbalances, asymmetries, and other reasons you may get injured. As the saying goes, “If you’re not assessing, you’re guessing.”
- We address the quality of your muscles, tendons and ligaments using tools such as foam rollers, medicine balls, and “The Stick.” This gives us benefits very similar to deep tissue massage, without the hefty price tag.
- We work on the extensibility of your muscles. Commonly known as flexibility training, we’re going to use multiple methods to achieve the appropriate amount of joint flexibility. After all, too much flexibility is every bit as bad as too little!
- For the athletes, we’re going to teach you how to decelerate properly a key component of ACL injury prevention programs. In sports, it’s very rare to get injured when accelerating; instead, most injuries occur when you’re trying to rapidly slow yourself down.
- Proper strength training technique is of the utmost concern at our facility. Sure, getting stronger and more powerful is important, but focusing on proper technique is a critical component of long-term progress and health.
- We also put a premium on sport-specific conditioning work as well. It’s actually well known that fatigue wreaks havoc on many of your bodies’ systems. If you can improve your conditioning and become more fatigue-resistant, you decrease the likelihood of getting injured when tired.
The goal here is simple: Whether you’re an elite athlete, someone who wants to lose body fat, or someone who simply wants to look and feel better, we want everyone to not only look good, but feel good as well.
