Transformation Contest Winner!

Last week we wrapped up our first ever Transformation Bootcamp here at IFAST. Needless to say, I fee like it was a huge success!

First and foremost, I just want to congratulate and thank everyone who participated – we couldn’t have done this without you!

Overall, our contestants lost a total of 30.5 pounds and a total of 20.75 inches!

And I’m not totally sure those numbers do justice to the changes these people made – numerous people really didn’t have any “weight” to lose, and they were already in relatively good shape.

Here’s how I determined the winner.

  1. Determined the Top 5 in our weight loss category. This was determined based off their weight loss relative to their intial starting weight. I gave the person who lost the highest percentage of body weight a 5, and the last person a 1.
  2. Determined the Top 5 in our inches lost category. Again, this was determined based off their total inches lost relative to their initial starting inches. The person who lost the most was given a 5, and the last person was given a 1.
  3. I added up total “points” to determine a winner.

The crazy thing here is this – even after 6 weeks of intense training, we almost had a tie as to who our winner was!

However, in the end Cathy R. lost out by a single point to Judy S.!

Judy – we’ll be in touch later this week to discuss your prizes :)

Again, congratulations to all of you on the success and results you’ve achieved over the past couple of weeks. Let’s keep it up and don’t let the holidays slow you down!

All the best

Why You SHOULDN’T Join IFAST

I’m 99% sure I know what you’re thinking here….

Why on Earth would Mike tell me why NOT to join his gym?

And that’s a great question – why would I do that?

Because when we boil it down to the bare essentials, some people are NOT meant to be here.

And trust me, we hear excuses all the time as to why now isn’t the appropriate time.

  • “Money’s tight, and you guys aren’t cheap.”
  • “I’m busier now than ever before – no way I can fit in working out too.”
  • “I can always do it later.”

Let’s examine each of this in a little bit more depth.

“Money’s tight and you guys aren’t cheap.”

Here’s the analogy I like to give – you don’t walk into a Ferrari dealership, test drive and ask to buy the Ferrari, and then expect to pay the price you would for a Toyota!

Look, we’re damn good at what we do. I realize I may sound arrogant or cocky when I say that, but I’m 100% confident in our skills and abilities.

We get results. People lose inches, weight, and/or body fat. They build muscle. They get stronger.

Quite simply, they get into the best shape of their lives.

You can go with the cheapest option out there, or you can go somewhere where the entire staff is on-board and ready to help you achieve your goals.

If cost is the only thing that’s driving your decision, you shouldn’t joint IFAST.

“I’m busier now than ever before.”

I can sympathize with this one – my wife and I had a beautiful baby girl in February and being a great husband and father are at the absolute top of my priority list.

But let’s be honest – do you really see yourself taking things off the plate down the line?

Do you really think next week, next month, next year, that you’re going to be less busy?

I seriously doubt it.

So you really have two options – you stay exactly where you are, and continue dreaming about “tomorrow,” or you take life by the reigns and decide that now, TODAY, you’re going to make a change.

You’re going to take the time to make yourself better.

Trust me, this isn’t being selfish – when you’re happy and more confident with yourself, everyone around you can see it and it’s contagious.

And in a worst case scenario, you can join one of our bootcamps and get in and out in one-hour – it doesn’t get any better than that.

So if you’re unwilling or unable to take the time to make yourself a better person, you shouldn’t joint IFAST.

“I can always do it later.”

This may be the most dangerous excuse of all.

We’re seduced by lady time – if we don’t do it today, we can do it tomorrow.

Or the next day.

Or the day after that.

But just like we discussed above, if you don’t do something now, TODAY, do you really see yourself making the change in a week, a month, or a year from now?

Instead, what would happen if you took the steps NOW to take your life back?

To start feeling sexy, more confident, and flat-out better about yourself?

Ladies, can you imagine how you might feel when you fit into that “old” pair of skinny jeans you used to love?

Or guys, what about if you start to fill out the top of your shirt versus the bottom?

If you are comfortable saying “tomorrow” is when you’ll get started, you shouldn’t join IFAST.

Let’s be 100% honest – there is NEVER a good time to get started. Money comes and goes. Time is in ever shorter supply as we add more and more things to our plate.

But some of you will take the necessary steps.

Some of you will make changes.

And if that sounds like something you’re interested in, you absolutely, positively, should join IFAST.

Call us at 317.578.0998 or e-mail us at indyfast@gmail.com to get started TODAY.

Because there will never be a better time than right now.

Semi-Private or Bootcamp?

With the start of our bootcamps here at IFAST, we’ve been getting a lot of questions that go something like this:

“Which is better – semi-private training or bootcamp?”

Look, I’m not here to say one or the other is “better” – I think they’re both fantastic options. What’s going to help you decide is figuring out which option is best FOR YOU and going from there.

Here are a few things to help you determine whether you’d be a better fit for semi-private or bootcamp-style training.

Semi-Private

  • With smaller class sizes (typically between 2 and 4 clients per hour) there’s going to be a lot of coaching involved. You’ll get a lot of our time and attention, to make sure you’re doing things exactly right. If you’re new to the gym, injured, or just want more of our time, semi-private is definitely the way to go.
  • In the semi-private track, you’ll get a 1-hour assessment to determine exactly what you do well (and don’t do well!) so that we can write programs that are appropriate to you, regardless of your injury history, goals, etc..
  • Finally, you’ll get customized programming that’s 100% geared towards you and your goals. Nothing is cookie-cutter, and we treat each person like the unique individual that they are.

Semi-private is our bread-and-butter and what we’re known for. But we’re changing that, because I feel we do bootcamps as well as anyone else out there. Here’s some info on bootcamps, and why they might be a good fit for you.

Bootcamps

  • If you like the “class” feel of training sessions, this will be perfect! Class sizes will obviously vary in size, but we’ll accommodate up to 20 people per class to give it as much energy as possible! You’ll also have a built-in layer of accountability, because if you’re missing people will want to know why!
  • Due to the larger class sizes, bootcamps are a smaller monetary commitment. If money is an issue but you still want the look and feel of an IFAST program, this could be your best bet!
  • Even though this is a large-group/bootcamp setting, that doesn’t mean we train like idiots and have you doing stupid stuff that will get you injured. All of the typical IFAST programming elements are included – the program just isn’t as individualized and you won’t get as much 1-on-1 time as you would in a small group setting.

As I mentioned above, there really is no right or wrong answer. I feel that both our semi-private and bootcamp tracks are fantastic options – the real key is figuring out what’s most important for you, and what will help you in achieving your fitness related goals.
